Goals and Purpose:  To educate ourselves and the entire St. Joseph Catholic Community on the seven key themes of Catholic Social Teaching.  To be involved in projects that raise awareness and understanding of related topics.

Responsibilities:  We meet monthly to discuss relevant social justice issues and plan initiatives for the year.  In the past, we have held informational meetings about healthcare, immigration and human trafficking.  We also gathered signatures for a petition calling for tougher laws against human trafficking which resulted in Florida passing some of the most stringent anti-trafficking laws in the nation. 

Helpful attributes:  As a desire to actively engage ourselves and others in the teachings of the church, both publicly and privately.

Time Commitment: two hours a month and occasionally limited involvement in activities sponsored by the committee.

Meeting Schedule: St. Vincent DePaul conference room at 7:15 pm on the second Monday of each month.
