CONFIRMATION
"Confirmation is the Sacrament that completes Baptism; in it the gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed upon us. Anyone who freely decides to live a life as God’s child and asks for God’s Spirit under the signs of the imposition of hands and anointing with Chrism received the strength to witness to God’s Love and might in word and deed. He is now a full-fledged, responsible member of the Catholic Church."
~ The Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Confirmation program at St. Joseph is designed to help our youth come to a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in our lives and in the life of the Church, and to a deeper appreciation of how being open to the presence and action of the Holy Spirit in our lives can draw us into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
Candidates seeking to celebrate Confirmation must complete two years of sacrament preparation program. All high school students in any grade are welcome to begin their spiritual and academic preparation towards the reception of the sacrament.
Sponsors:
They must be a confirmed practicing Catholic over the age of 16. You may choose one of your Godparents. You could choose a sibling, or other family members, but not your parents. The sponsor is called to be in relationship with the candidate so that they can help you grow deeper in your Catholic faith. It should be someone who is present in your life. They are required to be present at Confirmation and a practice. If they don’t attend Corpus Christi, there is a sponsor verification form that must be filled out by the sponsor’s home parish. You must fill out a Sponsor Report that explains to the youth minister why you chose this sponsor.
Contact the Parish Office at 772-287-2727 ext. 107 and our Faith Formation Director Anthuanette Hidalgo will assist you.
